Founded in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan in 2003, O’Neill Mushrooms has been a key supplier of fresh, quality mushrooms to the Irish and UK markets for the past six years.

State-of-the-art Automated Growing Facility

The past four years has seen O’Neill Mushrooms investing heavily in our state-of-the-art growing facility in Carrickmacross.  This has seen the installation of modern Dutch shelving and the automation of our farm.  We have also installed state-of-the-art computerised environmental controls.  This allows us to produce mushrooms of a consistent quality and quantity all year round.  In 2008, our turnover was almost €1.4 million with a work force of just 22.

Following harvesting, our mushrooms are placed in a specialised High Humidity Cold Room, which cools them to 4 degrees Celsius in just 30 minutes.  From here, the mushrooms are packaged and labelled for distribution daily in refrigerated vehicles to our customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

In April 2010, in response to increased demand O'Neill Mushrooms started production in a second growing facility in Newtownhamilton. This will allow us to produce an extra 75,000 lbs of fresh mushrooms per week. The site has 20 fully equipped state of the art growing rooms with computerised controls and a high humidity cold room.

O’Neill Mushrooms produces almost 30,000 lbs of fresh mushrooms every week for the retail, catering and wholesale sectors in the UK and Ireland.  As one of the top producers on the Irish market, we are large enough to meet supply demands and yet, small enough that we can give all our valued customers the individual attention that they both need and deserve.
