Environment
It is the policy of O’Neill Mushrooms to work towards the principles set down in the Bord Glas Integrated Crop Management Code of Practice for the Mushroom Industry. Effective management of all input resources and the maintenance and enhancement of wildlife and natural habitats will lead to a reduction in wastes and lessen the risk of pollution. All reasonable efforts will be made to conserve the environment, promote biodiversity of flora and avoid pollution. Materials are re-used or recycled whenever possible and any waste is disposed of in a responsible manner in accordance with the Waste Management legislation.
Environmental packaging
O’Neill Mushrooms works with its customers and packaging suppliers to ensure that our packaging is as environmentally friendly as possible.
Energy
We are contstantly looking for ways to improve our energy usage and reducing our carbon footprint. O'Neill Mushrooms are taking part in the SEI (Sustainable Energy Ireland) mentoring programme. Over the last few years O’Neill Mushrooms has invested in the very latest technology with a view to minimising energy usage.
Eithical trading
As a socially responsible mushroom producer our suppliers, local community and customers have a right to expect that:
- Mushroom products will be produced under working conditions that are hygienic and safe.
- All workers involved in the production of products sold by us from direct suppliers, indirect suppliers and our own service providers are treated with respect.
- O'Neill Mushrooms acts in an ethical manner above and beyond our legal requirements.
